FINDING A GOOD SURPRISE ABOUT A PARENT
In the first body paragraph (8 sentence recipe)
you will write about the children's discovery
in Chapter 10
of Atticus's expertise with a rifle.
In the first chunk,
explain how they discovered it,
and in the second chunk,
explain what the kids learned from the discovery.
In the second body paragraph
(8 sentence recipe),
you will write about something good
you discovered about one of your parents,
or about someone else.
In the first chunk,
explain what it was
and how you discovered it,
and in the second chunk,
explain what you learned from the discovery.
In both body paragraphs,
use a brief quote in each chunk,
and be sure to blend the quote smoothly
into your own words to make a single smooth sentence.
Here's an example by Edward:
"It seems to me that Scout did not understand that Arthur was the one giving them gifts though, and she even stated that she "bet that it was Miss Maudie Atkinson", and for that reason I believe that she was not as downhearted as Jem was. "
Notice that the quote blends into Edward's words to make a single sentence.
